![]() That means a future film set during the High Republic is likely to happen and is already occurring, with The Acolyte marking the era's end. Lucasfilm is moving away from the saga and trilogy model with the next set of films set in three distinct eras, posing as the previously released anthology films like Rogue One and Solo. Ro and the Nihil are on the level with other great Star Wars villains and something that would've worked well in the next Star Wars saga. At the center of the Nihil is Marchion Ro, a calculated and ruthless clan leader with an intriguing past and a great plot to destroy the Jedi. The Nihil is a real threat to the Jedi and, more importantly, different from the Sith Lords explored in most Star Wars stories. Light of the Jedi was the first story published under the initiative and details the Great Disaster, where the Nihil destroyed a ship transporting many in hyperspace, leading to plenty of chaos across the galaxy. This makes it hard for the Jedi to protect the galaxy and makes the Nihil terrifying, since they can appear at any moment and cause destruction. The Nihl are a group of marauders who lack any force sensitivity but still threaten the Jedi thanks to their grip on hyperspace travel. Since the High Republic is set after the downfall of the Sith, the era has crafted a new and compelling villain unlike anything seen in the mainstream part of the franchise: Marchion Ro and the Nihl. The Acolyte Can Bring Star Wars' High Republic Era Into Live-Action Having no ties to anything canon or Legends would've prevented interference with fan enjoyment, which is why The High Republic would've been advantageous for Lucasfilm to explore on the big screen first. The Mandalorian was the closest until the series went to Tatooine and brought in familiar faces during the later seasons. ![]() ![]() Every Star Wars story in live-action has been tied to the Skywalker Saga. This would've been incredibly beneficial for the film side because it would've been a fresh start for the franchise. The High Republic was a blank slate for the luminous authors to plant new adventures in and carve out their corner of the Star Wars universe. The only era left relatively unexplored was the Dark Times, which still featured stories from time to time but was saved for George Lucas to explore with the planned live-action series and the time between the Old Republic and the Skywalker Saga. Additionally, Lucasfilm started exploring the earliest days in the galaxy with the Dawn of the Jedi series. Stories post- Return of the Jedi were also explored with Luke Skywalker and the lineage beyond him. The Old Republic set thousands of years before The Phantom Menace, explored the great conflict between the Jedi and the Sith. Much of the Star Wars timeline has been explored thanks to the Expanded Universe.
